Try a pre-paid debit card. Works great, just like a credit card.
No company will approved an unsecured credit card for someone with a 500 credit score. Your only option to build up your credit score will be a secured credit card (not prepaid). At the bottom of the following link are some that will likely approve you.
None will give an unsecured card with a score that low.
You will need to save up $200 to $500 and get a secured card that is collateralized.
You’ll probably want to apply for a secured or prepaid card. They both have a 99% approval rate regardless of your score. Just make sure that they report. Check out findsecuredcards (google it) for a great selection. Good luck!
