The first thing I would try is a “secured” credit card from your bank or credit union. Usually they will hold $500 in your savings account that you cannot withdraw as your collateral for your card. You can use the card each month, then I would recommend paying off the balance each month. This way you can start to rebuild your credit with positive things, and then at some point the bank may allow an “unsecured” credit card after history of on-time payments.
