I recently found out that there is going to be a policy change at my job that will require me to have my own credit card to charge all of my travel and other work-related expenses to and get reimbursed later. Up until now, we have had a company debit card to use. The problem is that I can’t get a credit card due to bad credit. I am thinking of having my mom add me to one of her cards as a registered user and use that card (I have to determine first if that will work for rental cars). I heard that this would help my credit score and not just hers since I would have a lot of expenses each month that would get paid off immediately. However, this is basically the same thing I was doing with the company card–the account was in the company’s name and I was a registered user, but this did not show on my credit report.

There was a news article on Yahoo a few months back, on people paying others with good credit with great credit cards to place them on their accounts, ordering an additional credit card in the name of the purchaser (bad credit guy), therefore increasing the credit of the other guy. The card will be sent to the one ordering it, and they can then tear the card-up, thus the process being relatively safe. Did anyone see that article? I would like to do that, so if someone could help, It would greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I am new college student who has just recently opened a bank account. Prior to opening the account I was denied for a Discover credit card due to lack of bank account. after the opening for the accounts, I applied for a bank credit card but got denied due to below minimum income( they don’t have student credit cards).
Then I thought to apply for a Citibank student credit card, I was also denied due to bank account two recent & lack of banking activity. I figure I would applied for Discover one last time since now I do have a bank account. This will be my last attempt to get a credit card. which i will probably be denied.

I realize that after all this…by applying for multiple cards when a short period of time is bad for credit since each credit inquiry counts against you.

How bad do you think my 4 credit inquiries will effect my credit since i had no credit to start with? How long do you suggest I wait before attempting to apply again.

btw: i just want the credit cards so i can buy my textbooks online via ebay, half.com and amazon.

thanks

I’m a college student and like many fall into credit card dept and unsecure dept. I try my very best to pay on time but it was difficult to do so. With that to say I don’t really have a good credit score or history. I believe in second chance for everyone. Right now I’m entering a DMP program and try to rebuild my credit score. Please give your best educated opinion, thanks!

Typically, what a bad debt credit card is, is a card that creditors will offer you if your debt is bad. They use such cards to help you rebuild your credit and to get control of your finances after you have filed a bankruptcy or if you have some bad debt that has not been taken care of. There are two types of bad debt credit cards that you should look out for. The first type of bad debt credit card is a card called a secured credit card. How this card works is that the banks and credit companies will offer this card to you and only give you credit based on what you hold in your account. This way the credit card agency has collateral for if you were to fall back into debt. They could take the money that they needed for the payment on the credit card, if the account were to become delinquent. Secured credit cards also sometimes require you to pay a deposit to get the card too. If you make an initial deposit of 500 dollars, then you would be able to get a credit card with that limit on it. This way a credit card company does not undertake any risk when lending to you on credit.

The other category of credit cards are the normal credit cards that are not secured. What an unsecured credit card is, is an agreement with the creditor to the person who has taken the debt to loan a specific amount of money with the promise of repaying the debt without putting any money upfront. The amount that is loaned is based on the credit rating of the individual. These types of credit cards can be applied for without a bank account and with any major banking establishment. There are many credit card companies that offer unsecured credit cards as well. These credit cards can be used for consolidating debt and for reducing the monthly payment amounts. You can transfer existing amounts of credit onto your new credit card and lessen the financial impact that is has on your credit rating. This is another type of bad credit card that you can take advantage of.

Either one of these credit cards will help you eliminate your debt and prevent you from incurring more bad debt. If you are in debt of have bad credit card debt, then you should look into any one of these options to help you out of debt. This is the best way to recover from credit card debt before going bankrupt.
