I have to answer customer’s problems in retail when their store credit cards have problems. Lots of their questions are very stupid to me.

What do you think?

-The credit card is declined while their is avaliable credit. Min. payment has been missed for two months. Card will not go through as min. payment was missed for two months.

-Different social security number was used to open credit card. Credit card is unusable until the correct social is implecated on the card. Owner does not understand how this is her problem and claims that despite her credit affecting someone else, the account should be hers cause her name is on it.

-Customer open a joint account and does not understand why her husband’s transactions are on the same bill and why it is address to the two of them and not individually.

-Open 5 accounts and max out each one, complains being denied for card number 6.

-has two different accounts and continuously make payments on the wrong account saying the two different accounts does not matter. Even though the numbers are different.

-Made a return and does not understand why the return is listed under credit. And demands that a seperate column be made on the statement indicating a credit is a return???

-Why do I get questions this dumb and more everyday? Why are they even given credit cards? Why do people charge for unnecessary items when it’s clear they are in finacial debt?

When the min. is 10 and the full bill is 12. and they have 20, they complain that after paying 10 they do not wish to pay interest of the 2 dollars? Why complain about interest if you have the money avaliable right then and there to avoid it?

How come nobody seems to know how to use a credit card properly? You pay it off as soon as possible, keep it safe, and sit back and wait for points.
That is true because I have to deal with credit cards I’ll know more. But I’m just the guy at the register, i do not have full access to anyone’s account. And most of my answers are extremely basic in retrospective.

I mean, oh you went over the limit that is why the card is decline. Credit increase will not work for these reasons. It can end up as a 15 min. explaination and I feel the other person still does not fully understand.

I have had two cards sitting at a zero balance for two years now and my goal is to have more cards at a zero balance soon. I have heard that credit card companies don’t like you not using their card so they will give you a worse credit rating if you keep it at zero. Is this true? When and should I cancel a perfectly good credit card with a high line of credit?

I am about to have bad credit - a woman I once loved maxed out my credit cards (due to my stupidity), and I am pretty deep in debt…

I’m a student, and I don’t think there is any possible way to pay them off at the moment… considering that I am going to have bad credit and file bankruptcy, I might as well hit hard right? And then live with 7 years bad luck…

What do you think?

When you apply for a bad credit type of credit card this does not normally need a credit check. Regardless of your credit history or income. The interest on credit cards for bad credit are a lot higher than on regular credit cards. You must think about the different variable costs when getting a new bad credit credit card, such as the APR, the enrolment fee, the credit limit or any benefits that may come with the card.

Some parents have been known to give credit cards to their children to use, and then wonder why they are faced with a huge bill at the end of the month. To give a child a credit card with a large limit is asking for trouble really. The better option, if you really wanted to give a card to your child, would be to give them pre paid card. If not you will surely end up with bad credit or a huge bill to pay.

Credit cards that are made specifically for those with bad credit come with a lot of restrictions. The restrictions are not that of a normal credit card, but that is due to the bad credit. One of the main things is the higher rate of interest.

Another thing that a bad credit credit card will most probably have is a start up fee or upfront fee. It may or may not include a $50 annual fee and /or a monthly service fee. So one way to look at it is that there is already a balance on the card before you even start spending on it.

You can get approval on a bad credit credit card right away normally. This could be over the phone or over the internet. It is so convenient that you must not fall into the trap and forget to read the fine print and also look about at the different offers available before you sign up to anything. What are they late fees, the interest rates? theses are questions that you should be asking before choosing which card to finally go for.

One pretty good option for a credit card for someone with bad credit would be a secured card. It is very much like a gift card. You put the money on the card and then use it in the same way as you would do with a normal credit card, then once the money is gone it is gone. Until you are able to top it up again. That way you can’t overspend.

My friend said that if I cancel the credit card it would be bad for my credit…is that true?
I don’t know if I believe it because sometimes he doesnt know what he’s talking about.

Currently I have a store credit card that I have had open for 17 years with $5 k credit available to me. I am thinking that perhaps so much available credit ( I also have a Visa with $1k of credit as well) that it perhaps does not look good when going to purchases a car etc etc. Currently between both cards I owe $1.2k Does/will this effect my credit score?
